Hi All, we recently received the following email from a fellow Alfanatic looking to continue his love affair with Alfa Romeo:

“Hi

I am an Alfanatic and have driven Giulietta and GT Junior. My greatest wish now is to own a GTV/GTV6 between 1975 and 1985. My budget is R25000.00 for a well looked after GTV in daily use, that comes from a good home to a good home. Is my price realistic and do you perhaps know of one that is available ? ” Read the rest of this entry »

Mito Space Invaders

Posted by D-Mac On November - 30 - 20111 COMMENT

On 12 February 2010 Alfa Romeo released its line-up of MultiAir engines by combining a classic video game ‘Space Invaders’ and the Mito.

How it works - The MiTo must eliminate the ‘invaders’ – which in this scenario are fuel pumps and toxic barrels with lasers fired from its headlights.

Its a unique way to introduce the concept of increased engine power, lower emissions and decreased consumption.

Check out the video:

Good / Bad, post a comment with your thoughts and maybe we can get your idea out there for the next campaign.

Aquabatics – Give Me More!

Posted by Big Mac On November - 29 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

You know how you get that bubble packaging around fragile items? The clear plastic film that contains millions of little round bubbles? This reminds me of that.

The reason is simple. Once you start popping those little bubbles of joy, you just cant stop! It’s one gratifying little pop after another, first one by one and then in a whole bunch altogether. Its hypnotic. Watching these videos has seriously got me craving more. I need to see this thing finished! If this is your first introduction to this world-record breaking initiative, have a look at our original article on the Aquabatics Challenge organised by Alfa Romeo UK.

So in the aims of prolonging the eye and water-balloon popping experience, check out the cool slow-mo vids of the Mito QV strutting its stuff on the track, powersliding over heaps of water, bursting rubber with rubber.

pop….pop….pop… can’t stop…. pop…

Professor M meets the Alfanatics

Posted by Big Mac On November - 28 - 20113 COMMENTS

Every once in a while, timing works out just perfectly. Three of the Alfanatics, while visiting the CMH Alfa dealership in Hatfield Pretoria, just happened to be there for a special moment. It was at this very moment that we stood by to witness Mickey, a brand new Giulietta QV owner, take possession of his car for the first time. In all honesty we were just as excited for him as he was!

While chatting with Mickey, a professor of chemistry as it turns out, we found out that this was not his first Alfa. He had actually tried many makes of cars before making Alfa his manufacturer of choice, starting his passion with a 145, shortly follwed by a 156 JTD. All great choices if you ask us. These cars had impressed him so much he knew he’d definitely be coming back for more. In fact, he was so sure that this new Alfa would be everything he dreamed of, he didn’t even test drive his new purchase to ‘keep the first drive special and not ruin the surprise’. Now that’s passion!

Quite a special occasion. Not only were we witnessing the inclusion of the beautiful Giulietta into his family, but also the first experience behind the wheel. We were so moved by his actions that we had to immortalise this moment in a photo.

Naturally we had to do our part by giving the Professor and his wife two of our first prototype t-shirts so that, even when not in his Giulietta, the world can know what Alfa Romeo means to him. Another great Alfa inspired story, and another great reason to keep the passion alive! Professor Alfanatic, we salute you.

Alfa Romeo Goes Club to Club

Posted by Big Mac On November - 25 - 20111 COMMENT

The New Italian Wave. Apparently they aren’t referring to the evolution of raising one’s hand up to greet another human being. Pity, I had some great ideas (see the alfa wave). No, instead it’s the name of an electronic music group straight out of Italy. Sponsored by the Alfa Romeo Mito Energy Machine campaign, these guys are literally going ‘club to club’, filling the air with their unique gadgety sounds to a room of sweaty drunk people… I mean young-folk just looking looking for a party. The vibe looks insane and the music is hypnotic, I would love to be a part of that party. What a great event! Even better is trying to catch a glimpse of the Mito between all the strobe lights. What a sneaky way to burn the Alfa logo into the retinas of soon-to-be alfa buyers! It’s genius.

Cool vid and great direction. Just goes to show another way the Alfa Romeo vibe is becoming the mainstream way to have a great time.

Mito Goes under the Knife – Nip Tuck 2012

When we hear the word Mito we immediately think sporty, stylish little Italian with a big heart and plenty of flair. The Mito has been with us for a few years now and in its short time it has managed to stir the emotions of many a motoring enthusiast with its nimble handling, spirited performance and great looks.

We, the Alfanatics, are unashamedly big fans of the little car, as you may have already noticed from previous posts on the site. Not just because one of our very own, D Mac,  drives a Mito QV(well, ‘drive’ might not be the most accurate word to describe the interaction between D Mac and his Mito but as this is a family show we will leave your imagination to it ), but because it’s an exceptional little car that pulls at your heart strings every time you get behind the wheel, all the while encouraging you to enjoy the art of driving.

Ultimately, the Mito has now reached that time in the product lifecycle for a little ‘nip-tuck’ and a slight ‘sprucing-up’ to keep us all engaged. Read the rest of this entry »

Mito Movies – Directed by.. You!

Alfa Romeo are so confident in the positive effect that the Mito would have on those who have bought and driven one, they were crazy enough to give the public the means to make their own little Mito-themed movies for us all to enjoy. We’ve scoured the web and picked our favourites for you to watch below. About 30 seconds each, they are pretty damn funny and really help drive home the concept that the car is more than just transportation to most, but the embodiment of a lifestyle. I spent an hour of my life watching these things…. I’m addicted! Read the rest of this entry »

There has been quite a bit of customisation available for the Alfa Romeo Mitos recently, none more impressive than adding a touch screen to the center console. I have been researching this quite a bit and wanted to share some of the more impressive installations.

The more popular devices that are added are either Samsung Galaxy Tablets or an Alpine (IVA 505 R) DVD receivers.

The benefit of the Galaxy Tablet is the Android Operating System and the multitude of applications available on the Android Market. It would be great if Read the rest of this entry »
